**NOTES for Friday 12/18

2) $1 ugly sweater/ Christmas theme dress

3) 12 noon dismissal. Boys and Girls club is on as usual. 

4) Christmas program/ Las Posadas celebration at 6:30 followed by delicious food and piñataa!  Dress warm. It will be held outside in the pavilion.

Chumash museum field trip

Third and fourth graders enjoyed learning about the Chumash Indian tribe's culture. We listened to Gray Wolf, toured the museum, visited a Chumash village, played traditional games, and sang songs.

Upcoming events

There's a lot of events coming up in these next few weeks:

1) Wednesday 12/9 math chapter 5 test 

2) Friday 12/11 field trip to Chumash Indian Museum. Students must bring a sack lunch. Students may wear either PE clothes or regular uniforms. It will be mostly outside so please dress accordingly. Students can wear baseball caps.

3) Next Friday, 12/18 is our classroom Christmas party. We will order pizza. Please send in $2 to cover the cost of ordering pizza. There will be a sign up sheet on the classroom door for other items needed for the party. There is a 12 noon dismissal that day but there is Boys and Girls Club as usual. 

4) Also on Friday 12/18 we have our Christmas carols and Las Posadas taking place in the pavilion. Third graders will sing a song with the fourth graders. Please be in the pavilion by 6:30.

Veterans Project Donations Needed

Third graders are asked to donate adult size mittens or gloves. They will be added to care packages for veterans in the Los Angeles Veterans Hospital. Please send in any donations by December 7. Thanks in advance for your generosity.

Dear Parents,

1) Field trip permission slips went out on Friday for two upcoming field trips:  12/11 Chumash Indian Museum and 1/15 Getty Center.  There is a $16.00 fee for the Chumash field trip.  Please send in the fee and both permission slips filled out completely by this Friday, 11/20.  Please let me know if you would like to chaperone for either field trip.  I can take 3 parents to each visit.

2) Uniform reminder:  As the weather gets colder, please take this time to review the uniform policy, found no pages 83-87 of the online handbook.  Specifically, school sweaters and sweatshirts may not have hoods.  Sweaters need to be plain navy blue.  Sweatshirts need to have the school logo.  Jackets need to be solid navy blue or the school jacket.  Students will need to remove any jackets or sweaters that are not part of the uniform in the classroom.  Tights are allowed, but leggings are not.  Rainboots are allowed on rainy days only.
